Wooden Burr Puzzle | the Nice Bazaar

The traditional 6 Piece Burr Puzzle is perhaps the most well known and legendary of all the Burr puzzles, and maybe even all interlocking puzzles in general It’s a classic! The six-piece burr, also known as the "Puzzle Knot" or "Chinese Cross," is the most well-known and presumably the oldest of the burr puzzles, and it is very common and popular. Most of the burr puzzles made and sold are very similar to each other, with most of them including a "key" piece, an unnotched stick that slides out easily. This is actually a family of puzzles, all sharing the same finished shape and basic shape of the pieces. In the late 1970s, the six-piece burr regained the attention of inventors and collectors, largely thanks to a computer analysis conducted by the mathematically trained puzzle designer Bill Cutler, which was published by Martin Gardner in his Mathematical Games column in Scientific American.
